New 2018 Honda Amaze Launched; Prices Start At ₹ 5.60 Lakh

The new Amaze is slightly bigger and gets a diesel CVT powertrain option.

Honda India launched the second generation Amaze compact sedan today. India is the first country to get the new model which will be introduced in other South Asian cities at a later date. Prices for the car start at ₹ 5.60 lakh for the petrol and ₹ 6.70 lakh for the diesel (ex-showroom, pan-India).

The second generation Honda Amaze is based on an all-new platform and features design inspired by the bigger City sedan. The front is now more prominent due to the thick chrome trim and the large headlamps which get L-shaped LED DRLs. The rear too gets a dose of a thick chrome bar with large tail-lamps. The dual-tone interior of the new Amaze is more premium in design and use of materials compared to the current car. On the inside the new Honda Amaze gets a large touchscreen infotainment system and more premium materials for the upholstery.

Depending on the variant the features available on the new model include 15-inch alloy wheels, electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, automatic climate control, cruise control, height adjustable driver’s seat, rear armrest with cup-holders, dual SRS front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, etc.

2018 Honda Amaze prices (ex-showroom, pan-India):

Petrol/Diesel

E MT – ₹ 559,900 / ₹ 669,900

S MT – ₹ 649,900 / ₹ 759,900

V MT – ₹ 709,900 / ₹ 819,900

S CVT – ₹ 739,900 / ₹ 839,900

The new Amaze is 5mm longer, 15mm wider, has a 65mm longer wheelbase and has 20-litres of more boot space. The car measures 3995mm x 1695mm x 1501mm (length x width x height), has a wheelbase of 2470mm, a ground clearance of 170mm and boot space of 420-litres. Honda says it has tuned the car for better NVH characteristics with a newly developed engine block, optimised engine mounts, engine head cover made of a new material, new soundproof package, etc.

Powering the new Amaze are engines from the outgoing model – a 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol producing 89bhp and 110Nm and coupled to either a 5-speed manual transmission or CVT, and a 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine producing 99bhp and 200Nm and coupled to a 5-speed manual transmission. Honda has also introduced a CVT option on the diesel engine, but the power drops to 79bhp and 160Nm if you choose it.

The ARAI rated mileage figures for the petrol MT and CVT are 19.5 km/l and 19 km/l respectively while for the diesel MT and CVT those figures stand at 27.4 km/l and 23.8 km/l respectively.

The new Honda Amaze is available in five exterior colour choices – a new Red Metallic, Lunar Silver Metallic, Modern Steel Metallic, Golden Brown Metallic and White Orchid Pearl. The car is available with a 3-year unlimited kilometre warranty which can be extended to 5years/unlimited kilometres. The service interval is 1year/10,000 kms. Honda is also offering a 3-year annual maintenance package with an average cost of ₹ 3,500 for the petrol and ₹ 4,900 for the diesel.
