How Automobile Manufacturers Performed In December 2018

Find below the December 2018 passenger vehicle sales figures of Maruti Suzuki, Mahindra, Ford, Honda, Tata Motors, Hyundai, and Toyota.

 

Maruti Suzuki

Maruti sold 119,804 units in December 2018 compared to 118,560 units in the same period last year thus recording an increase of 1%.

 

Maruti is all set to launch a new/updated Wagon R this month with a bigger 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine.

 

Mahindra

Mahindra sold 15,091 units in December 2018 compared to 15,543 units it sold in December 2017 thus recording a fall of 3%.

 

The Marazzo MPV it launched in September 2018 is seeing good demand. The company also launched the Alturas G4 premium SUV in November. Its new sub-metre compact SUV named XUV300 to be launched next month is expected to significantly add to the sales figures of the company.

 

Ford

Ford India sold 5,840 units in December 2018 as against 5,087 units in the same period last year thus recording an increase of more than 11%.

 

Contributing significantly to the sales is the Figo Freestyle crossover the company launched last year. The company also launched the upgraded variants of the Aspire compact sedan and the EcoSport last year.

 

Honda

Honda sold 13,139 units in December 2018 compared to 12,642 units in the same period last year thus recording a growth of 4%. The Amaze compact sedan has been the biggest contributor to the company’s sales.

 

Mr. Rajesh Goel, Senior Vice President and Director, Sales and Marketing, Honda Cars India Ltd said, “The market continued to remain challenging in December. However, with lucrative year-end offers on many of our models and strong performance of new models Amaze and CR-V, HCIL recorded 4% sales growth in December 2018. We are thankful to our customers to have continued faith in the Honda brand.

 

 

Tata Motors

Tata Motors has seen a good demand for its new vehicles like the Tiago and the Nexon. The company also launched the Tiago NRG cross-hatch and the 2018 Tigor facelift in 2018.

 

In December 2018 Tata sold 14,260 units as compared to 14,180 units it sold in the same period last year thus registering a 1% growth. This month it will launch the much awaited SUV, the Harrier.

 

 

Hyundai

Hyundai India sold 42,093 units in December 2018 as compared to 40,158 units in the same period last year thus registering a growth of 4.8%.

 

In 2018, Hyundai launched the Creta facelift and the new Santro.

 

Toyota

Toyota sold 11,830 units in December 2018 as compared to the 10,793 units it sold in December 2017, thus registering a 10% growth. The Fortuner and Innova Crysta are the two biggest contributors to Toyota India’s sales figures.
