Honda Opens Bookings Of New Amaze; Launch In May 2018

The new Amaze was first showcased in February at the Auto Expo 2018.

Honda India has started accepting pre-launch bookings for the second generation Amaze compact sedan which is scheduled to be launched in May 2018. The bookings can be made at all Honda dealerships across the country by paying a booking amount of ₹ 21,000.

The second generation Honda Amaze is based on an all-new platform and features design inspired by the bigger City sedan. The front is now more prominent due to the thick chrome trim and the large headlamps which get L-shaped LED DRLs. The rear too gets a dose of a thick chrome bar with large tail-lamps. The dual-tone interior of the new Amaze is more premium in design and use of materials compared to the current car.

Features which will be available on the new Honda Amaze include a large touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, reverse camera, parking sensors, keyless entry, etc.

Powering the new Amaze will be the petrol and diesel engine from the current car. The petrol motor is a 1.2-litre unit producing 87bhp/109Nm while the diesel is a 1.5-litre unit producing 99bhp/200Nm. We don’t think Honda will tweak the power figures for the new car. Both engines are mated to a 5-speed manual transmission as standard, while the petrol engine gets an optional CVT. The big news is that this time Honda will also offer the CVT option on the diesel engine.

The diesel CVT powertrain will allow the Amaze to compete with the VW Ameo diesel DSG, Maruti Suzuki Dzire AMT and the Tata Zest AMT. The new Honda Amaze is expected to be priced at a slight premium over the current car.

Mr. Rajesh Goel, Sr Vice President & Director, Marketing & Sales, Honda Cars India Ltd. said, “The Honda Amaze has been one of our very successful models in India, with over 2.57 lakh satisfied customers. With the 2ndgeneration Amaze, we are extremely excited to add another chapter to the success story of the model. It’s a big commitment from HCIL to its customers and for us it’s “Time To Go Big.”

“The introduction of India’s Diesel CVT technology in the new Amaze, which offers unmatched and superior automatic driving experience, is also a first from Honda globally. We are confident the customers will see great value in this new technology,” he added.
