Lexus Completes One Year In India; NX 300h Deliveries Begin

The company is surprising owners with personalised gifts during delivery of the vehicle thus taking customer experience to a whole new level.

Lexus has completed its first year of operations in India and also started deliveries of its NX 300h petrol-electric hybrid SUV to customers. The NX 300h was revealed in November 2017 and launched in January 2018. It is priced at ₹ 53.18 lakh for the NX 300h Luxury variant and ₹ 55.58 lakh for the NX 300h F-Sport variant (prices are ex-showroom, pan-India).

Keeping its brand ethos of ‘Experience Amazing’ in mind, the company is delivering the NX 300h to customers in Lexus style. The SUVs arrive on a flatbed which allows the owners to put the first miles on their vehicle. All Lexus vehicles are delivered with a full tank of fuel. Lexus customises each delivery based on its knowledge of its customers. An owner in Mysore not only received his new Lexus, but each of his family members received personalised gifts from Lexus. In another instance, a customer in Mumbai who is an avid collector received a customised crafted gift. The company has conducted many such personalised deliveries thus demonstrating its commitment to placing customers at the centre of all it does. Lexus trains relationship managers to have a deep, personal knowledge of and connection with owners which starts at the showrooms (which Lexus calls Guest Experience Centers) and continues through the highly personalised delivery experience and throughout the ownership.

P B Venugopal, President, Lexus India said, “At Lexus, our human-centered approach is evident in the way our cars are engineered, the craftsmanship they embody and in the ownership experience which begins the moment they engage with us or step into any of our guest experience centers. In India, we felt there was no better way to mark this significant milestone than by keeping our guests as our focus. As we enter our second year in India, we look forward to new ways to deliver on the promise of ‘experience amazing’ so we can continue to delight our guests here by delivering the exceptional hospitality that is ‘omotenashi’ – the anchor of the Lexus brand.”

The NX 300h is powered by a 2.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine coupled to an electric motor and a CVT. Total power output of the powertrain is 194-bhp/210-Nm and its ARAI rated mileage figure is 18.32 km/l.

The NX 300h features details like triple projector beam headlamps, Lexus signature large Spindle grille, coupe like sloping roofline and arrow shaped LED tail-lamps. On the inside the NX 300h will come loaded with a 10.3-inch split-screen infotainment screen, heads-up display, 14-speaker Mark Levinson audio system, folding and power reclining rear seats, etc. Safety features included will be 360-degree surround view system which takes feed from four high-definition cameras, ABS, vehicle stability control, anti-theft system, 8-airbags, etc.

Lexus builds the NX 300h in Japan and it is imported to India as a CBU (completely built unit). Considering it is a CBU and attracts maximum duty, Lexus has managed to price it on par with its locally assembled competition like the Mercedes GLC, BMW X3, Audi Q5 and the Volvo XC60 (CBU at the moment).

Lexus made its India debut last year with the launch of the ES 300h, RX 450h and the LX 450d. The flagship LS 500h made its debut earlier this year too.
