Mahindra signs MoU with Bhutan Government to promote usage of electric vehicles; launches the e2o

Mahindra has signed a MoU with the Government of Bhutan in a partnership to promote the use of electric cars in the small kingdom. On the occasion Mahindra launched the e2o in the country.

The e2o will be available in three variants and will be priced from 6.99 Ngultrum for the base variant to 7.99 Ngultrum for the premium variant (prices are ex-showroom, Bhutan). The premium variant with Quick2Charge will be available for 8.39 Ngultrum.

Mahindra will also be setting up a charging infrastructure in Bhutan in association with the Government of Bhutan. This will allow the e2o as well as future electric vehicles from Mahindra to be launched successfully.

The e2o can be charged fully in 5 hours and can travel up to 100 km on a single charge. The Quick2Charge function can charge the car in 15 minutes for a range of 25 km.

The e2o can seat four and comes with all creature comforts like keyless entry, start/stop button, projector headlamps, LED tail-lights, audio system with 4 JBL speakers, etc.

Dr. Pawan Goenka, said, “The association between Bhutan and India is one which goes back a long way. It is a matter of pride for an Indian company like ours to be associated with Bhutan in such an important initiative to co-create and nurture a sustainable ecosystem.  With the Mahindra e2o we are taking the lead in not only creating a comprehensive ecosystem to nurture sustainable mobility solutions, but also partnering Bhutan to redefine the future of urban mobility. Given the increasing fuel prices and carbon footprint, we need ample awareness around the benefits of electric vehicles and the initiative taken by the Government of Bhutan is a bold and path-breaking statement that is highly commendable. Little wonder then that the country’s social, economic, political and spiritual foundations are rooted in the idea of Gross National Happiness, the main thread for a country’s development.”

Chetan Maini, Chief Executive Officer, Mahindra Reva Electric Vehicles Pvt. Ltd. said, “The Mahindra e2o is a near perfect amalgam of the dramatic advancements in automotive technology, electronics and Information Technology. The vehicle offers innovative features such as the Hill Hold control and advanced regenerative braking which will be very useful while driving in the hilly terrains of Bhutan. We are certain that the cutting-edge technological innovation that has gone into the Mahindra e2o will help our customers in Bhutan remain connected in a convenient, cool and cost-effective manner.”
